Abstract

This study was motivated by the lack of listening skill among students, as evidenced by their inability to write words such as مدرس, with most students writing the letters sin and nun at the end, which should actually be tanwin marks. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of the PRAKTIS application and whether the PRAKTIS application could improve the listening skill of students at MTsN 2 Bengkalis. The population in this study consisted of all 57 eighth-grade students at MTsN 2 Bengkalis. The method used was an experimental method with a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation, test, and documentation to strengthen the research. The results of this study indicate that: (1) The implementation of the PRAKTIS application to improve the listening skill of eighth-grade students at MTsN 2 Bengkalis is in the “very good” category, with a percentage of 80%. (2) Regarding the results of the analysis of the two separate groups, the researcher used an independent sample t-test in SPSS 25, where the Sig value (2-tailed) was 0.003 < 0.05. This means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. This indicates that there was an improvement in students' listening skill after being taught using the PRAKTIS application in the eighth grade at MTsN 2 Bengkalis.
