Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to ANANDA: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pembelajaran Anak Usia Dini must conform to the journal's focus and scope and its author guidelines, and must demonstrate adequate scholarly merit or novelty.

Stages and Timelines

  1. Initial editorial assessment — 7 days. The editor checks the manuscript's fit with the focus and scope, its compliance with the author guidelines, and the outcome of similarity screening. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements are returned at this stage without being sent to reviewers.
  2. Peer review — 21 days. Each manuscript is assessed by at least two reviewers under a double-blind system, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are withheld from one another. Where the two assessments diverge substantially, the editor appoints a third reviewer.
  3. First decision — within 30 days of submission. The decision and the full reviewer comments are conveyed to the authors through Open Journal Systems.
  4. Author revision — 14 days. Authors submit a response sheet explaining each revision made, or their reasons where a reviewer's suggestion was not followed.
  5. Final decision, copyediting, and layout. Authors are given the opportunity to check proofs before publication.

Decision Categories

  • Accept without revision.
  • Accept with minor revisions.
  • Major revisions required, with re-review after revision.
  • Reject.

What Reviewers Assess

  • The novelty of the work and its contribution to the field of early childhood education.
  • The soundness of the method, including the fit between the research design, instruments, analysis technique, and research aims.
  • The clarity with which results are presented and the depth of discussion against previous research.
  • The currency and adequacy of the references.
  • Fit with the journal's focus and scope.

Publication Decisions

The final decision on acceptance is made by the editor-in-chief together with the editorial board, taking the reviewers' comments into account. Reviewer comments inform the decision but do not determine it alone.

The editor-in-chief assigns accepted articles to an issue, taking into account the order of acceptance dates, the geographical distribution of authors, and thematic fit.

Similarity Screening

All manuscripts are screened for similarity using Turnitin at initial assessment and again before publication. The full terms are set out on the Plagiarism Screening page.

Preserving Blind Review

So that double-blind review can work, authors must remove their names, affiliations, and acknowledgements from the manuscript file, and clear author identity from the document properties, before submitting.
