Publication Ethics
Jurnal Langgam Komunikasi is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractice. This statement describes the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing articles in this journal, including the editor, reviewer, and author.
1. Duties of Editors
The Editor of Jurnal Langgam Komunikasi is responsible for deciding which of the submitted manuscripts should be published. The editor is guided by the policies of the editorial board and constrained by legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The editor may consult with other editors or reviewers in making publication decisions.
Fair Play
Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on the basis of their intellectual content, without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or political philosophy of the authors.
Confidentiality
The editor and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
Conflict of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in the editor’s own research without the author’s explicit written consent.
2. Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and, through editorial communication with the author, may also assist the author in improving the quality of the manuscript.
Promptness
Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that a prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and decline the review.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.
Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should clearly express their views with supporting arguments.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported should be accompanied by an appropriate citation. Reviewers should also notify the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and other published works.
Conflict of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a manuscript must not be used in the reviewer’s own research without the author’s written permission. Information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors or institutions involved.
3. Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors of original research reports should present an accurate account of the work performed and an objective discussion of its significance. Manuscripts should contain sufficient detail and references to allow others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
Data Access and Retention
Authors may be asked to provide raw data related to their manuscript for editorial review and should be prepared to provide public access to such data where practicable. Authors should retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. If the work or words of others are used, they must be properly cited or quoted.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. Publishing substantially the same research in more than one journal without proper justification is considered unethical publishing behavior.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have significantly influenced their research.
Authorship of the Manuscript
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All contributors who meet these criteria should be listed as authors. The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
All authors should disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support must be disclosed.
Fundamental Errors in Published Work
If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.
Retraction Policy
Articles published in Jurnal Langgam Komunikasi may be retracted if:
- There is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable due to misconduct (e.g., data fabrication) or honest error (e.g., miscalculation or methodological error);
- The findings have been previously published elsewhere without proper acknowledgment, permission, or justification (redundant publication);
- The article contains plagiarism;
- The research reported is unethical.
