Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of the cooperative learning model of the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) type on students’ learning motivation in the Arabic language subject for Grade X at MAN 2 Bengkalis.The background of this research is based on the low learning motivation of students. This research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of 54 students divided into two classes: the experimental class, which used the STAD model, and the control class, which used conventional methods. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation, and were analyzed using validity, reliability, normality, and homogeneity tests, as well as hypothesis testing (Wilcoxon). The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the STAD learning model significantly increased students’ learning motivation. This is evident from the Wilcoxon test results in the experimental class, where the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.000. Since 0.000 < 0.05, it can be concluded that “Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.” Meanwhile, the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value in the control class was 0.949. Since 0.949 > 0.05, it can be seen that there was an increase in learning motivation in the experimental class compared to the control class.
