Abstract: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using interactive escape room-based media in improving elementary school students' numeracy literacy and identify the most effective escape room design characteristics for mathematics learning. The research approach applies a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with the PRISMA framework which includes four stages, namely: identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion. A total of 20 scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025 that are relevant to the topic of educational escape rooms and numeracy literacy were analyzed systematically. Data collection techniques were carried out by identifying source databases, determining keywords, applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, screening and selection, and documentation. Data analysis techniques were carried out using thematic descriptive analysis. The results of the study indicate that interactive escape room-based media is proven effective in improving elementary school students' numeracy literacy through a learning approach that emphasizes collaborative problem solving, critical thinking, and the application of mathematical concepts in real contexts. The most effective escape room characteristics include multilevel numeracy-based puzzle designs, motivating gamification elements, group collaboration, and direct constructive feedback. The main challenges identified were limited implementation time, the complexity of the puzzle design, and the need for teacher training in designing and facilitating escape room activities. This study proposes that future development of educational escape rooms should be carried out by increasing the integration of digital technology, strengthening empirical validation of learning impacts, and providing practical guidance for teachers to implement escape rooms sustainably in numeracy literacy learning in elementary schools.
